About MeI am a ‘UK Council for Psychotherapy’ (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist, a Senior Accredited member of the ‘British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’ (BACP) and a Registered Independent Counsellor with the ‘United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists’ (UKRCP).
I hold a Masters Degree in Gestalt psychotherapy from Metanoia Institute and a Diploma in Counselling from the London Gestalt Centre. I also hold a Masters Degree in Professional Studies - this was for research into the value of continuing professional development for psychotherapists.
Before training as a psychotherapist I had a long career in the hospitality industry, holding a number of roles in both the UK and overseas. My work brought me into contact with people at all levels of business, from chief executives to those just starting out on their career. I have, therefore, had plenty of opportunity to observe, and experience, the effects that different events can have on the way we approach our lives.
There are many different types of psychotherapy. I chose to train as a Gestalt psychotherapist because Gestalt focuses on establishing a real relationship between the therapist and client; it prioritises the client’s experience over any interpretations of the therapist and aims, not for short-term change, but for long-term awareness.
As a Senior Accredited member of the BACP I am bound by its ‘Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy’ and am subject to the current ‘Professional Conduct Procedure’. I am covered by professional indemnity insurance and work under regular supervision.
